Our annual Crafters Supplies Give & Take event was once again a success! For 2026, we expanded intake hours to include Thursday evening, and once again greeted donors in the board room, which provided a good access point. The community was very generous, as in past years, and the rooms were filled!

The “take” part of the event began on Saturday, April 18 at 10am – with many people lining up as early as 9am! When the doors opened, the room quickly became packed with people who found new treasures to bring home – including fabric and thread, yarn (so much yarn!), woodworking supplies, stamps, jewelry-making supplies, brushes and paints, and so much more.

Many in the community benefited from this event, which accepts free-will donations for the items people take home. One individual, who runs a summer children’s theater program, gathered enough supplies to provide costumes for both programs this summer. We heard many stories like this, where the kindness of the community went a step further thanks to the repurposing of materials.

In addition to benefiting the community, another goal of this event is to keep great materials out of landfills. What was left at the end of Sunday didn’t go to waste. Our volunteers distributed the remainder of items to several organizations, including Amity Church and the Clifton Park Senior Center, where participants knit and crochet hats and scarves for families of those stationed at Fort Drum. Of course, any remaining books will be at the CPH Friends Used Book Sale on May 15-17.

Thanks to everyone who participated – including our amazing team who brought energy and expertise to this event!
