In a prior article, we introduced you to our 3 new board members. Over the next several months, we will conduct more in-depth interviews with them and others who help us with our work.  Our first interview is with new board member Kelly Tetreault.

CPH Friends: You now live in Waterford – what attracts you about this area?

Kelly: I’m a born and bred Jersey girl, but I’ve been living in the area for 8 years.  I’ve really come to love it here! It’s great that we get to experience all four seasons (though I definitely prefer summer) and that there’s so much to do.  We live in the perfect place, there’s so much to do locally, and I love to take advantage of all of it! It’s nice to become a regular at restaurants AND still get to experience great entertainment in our small cities. It’s the best of quiet live and city energy.

CPH Friends: You are an avid reader – what do you think made you so, and what genres do you particularly enjoy?

Kelly: I think growing up only a block from my local library made it so easy for me to become a reader. I remember walking there with my parents all the time, checking out books and attending their children’s programs (I still have fond memories of playing Bingo).  I’ll read almost anything, but in recent years I’ve become a huge fan of romance novels. I love books where there’s going to be a happy ending and all of the fun is how the characters overcome circumstances and get there. My favorite books I’ve read recently are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and First Time Caller by B. K. Borrison.

CPH Friends: You visit the CPH Library frequently – what do you particularly enjoy or appreciate about our library?

Kelly: One of my favorite things to do is take my time and peruse the stacks of books and see what speaks to me.  I’ve found so many great titles just by patiently exploring. It’s wonderful to have a library that has a scope of things to read so no matter what mood I’m in, I can find something exciting.

CPH Friends: You are stepping into the role of Board Member for the CPH Friends – why this nonprofit to invest your time and efforts?

Kelly: I wanted to get more involved in my local community and what better place to do that, than the library?  It’s a hub of our two towns and its resources are so important to the community.  Since I was a library kid growing up and still am at the library weekly (if not more frequently), then it just seemed like a natural fit.

CPH Friends: What’s something fun about you that you’d like to share with us?

Kelly: If I’m not in a cozy nook reading in the winter or on my patio reading in the summer, I’m probably running or traveling. Or traveling to go run.  I’m training for my tenth marathon and have run countless half marathons, 10Ks, and 5Ks.  My favorite race so far is a tie between the Boston Marathon and the Walt Disney World Marathon.
